November 11, 2018
On the morning of November 11, Lebanon witnessed the 16th edition of the BLOM Bank Beirut Marathon! Keeping the tradition that was started 5 years ago, AGBU Antranik, this year too, was at the heart of Beirut Marathon. AGBU Antranik proudly partners in this nation-wide community-based initiative not only through running but also through our team of scouts: the boys, who diligently guard the courses of 42k and 21 k finish line tracks and our girls, who hand the medals and take care of the arrivals ranging from international professionals to elite and first time runners. A number of participants from the AGBU Antranik community joined the 1km, 8Km, 21km and 42km races and fun runs and ran all for the unique cause of “Education for all!”. In addition to the 8Km fun runners and racers, this year, we had 2 AGBU members finishing the 42km marathon (Shahe Partamian and the Everest climber Ara Khatchadourian) and 2 members completing the half marathon (Jules Chahine and Anita Lebiar). Furthering AGBU’s community outreach, Anita Lebiar, the executive director of AGBU Lebanon, while running for AGBU Lebanon’ cause “Education for All”, ran with the group of para-athletes and paced for the equally determined and motivating visually impaired runners of the newly initiated Blind with Vision team. AGBU Antranik looks forward to the 2019 Beirut Marathon to once again “Fill in the Heart” of the region’s BEST-est city, BEIRUT!
