Commemorating the December 9, the “International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of This Crime,” AGBU organized a seminar entitled: “The Crime Against Genocide and the MENA Region: Lessons Learnt for Prevention or protection.” The seminar that was in collaboration with the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner (OHCHR), the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut (AUB), the Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights in Lebanon, and the Lepsiushaus Potsdam Research Center for Genocide Studies in Germany— took place at the Issam Fares Institute and brought together national and international experts for a day of panel discussions on the theme of genocide in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and the role of the media, civil societies and public opinion in prevention, protection and condemnation of the crime of Genocide.
