The Parents’ Committee of the AGBU Schools and the AGBU-AYA Antranik Cultural Association organized a classical music concert entitled “The Symphony of Rebirth”, on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Demirdjian Center, in a celebration of music, identity, education, harmony, and diversity.
The event was meant to represent a meeting point between traditional Armenian music and classical western culture. In the spirit of the AGBU, of pride in one’s heritage, of acceptance, color, rhythms, and hope, the audience was united in music, in a wonderful celebration of rebirth, culture, unity, and diversity.
Soloists Tenor Father Ghazar Bedrossian, Soprano Nadine Nassif, Tenor Eliya Francis, Tenor Johnny Geukjian were accompanied by pianist Mrs. Olga Bolun. Compositions by Schubert, Naregatsi, Gomidas, Di Capua, G. Verdi were chosen on this occasion.
When putting together the repertoire, the artistic director Johnny Koukejian chose music that is close to his heart. “If I fall in love with pieces of music then I dream of performing them,” he says.
